FAQ's

A local radio station carries the very popular Glenn Haege "Master Handyman" program for 6 hours each weekend. Glenn also writes a weekly column in the Michigan Detroit News. Here is an excerpt.

Q. Dear Glenn:
Here's our problem. Our builder used ceramic tile on the floor of our master bathroom shower. It's the same as that used on the walls of the shower so it has a very shiny and slick finish. Unfortunately, it is very slippery when wet. Is there any type of rubberized or non-slip spray or paint available we could put on the tile floor? -- Nancy, Oakland

A. Dear Nancy:
You can treat your tile with a non-slip product called SPT made by SlipFix Inc., call them at (800) 878-0036, or visit www.slipfix.com. Before applying the SPT the area to be covered has to be squeaky clean. The SPT has a degreaser that should be used before application of the SPT non-slip. Regular cleaning with the SPT cleaner will ensure your 1yr warranty and maintain the life of the application.

How does the SPT work?
  • The SPT is a treatment which penetrates only into tile, ceramic, porcelain and     unpainted concrete. SPT also penetrates into some marble and granite     (testing is recommended when working with marble or granite)
How is the SPT applied?
  • Step 1: Sweep area off and use SPT Degreaser and hot water with a deck brush or power scrubber let it stand 1-2 minutes rinse with warm water. (Does not need to be dry before applying the non-slip- just be sure soapy suds are off and there is no standing water)
  • Step 2: Spray (common hand pump sprayer) SPT non-slip on degreased area. Be sure to split large areas smaller when applying non-slip. You want to keep the area you are applying non-slip to saturated at all times, If the non-slip is drying between 10-15min. then just spray more SPT non-slip over the area. When area is covered you want to let it set for about 10-15min. (cont. to step 3)
  • Step 3: After 10-15 minutes rinse with cold water (this will activate the non-slip) squeegee into drain or pick up with shop vacuum. There is no curing time so you can walk over floor as soon as the application is complete.
What is the difference between all your products?
  • SPC is a coating that is rolled onto the surface comes in clear or white
  • SPT is a treatment (penetrates into the surface)
  • SPS is a roll on paint that is available in 4 colors. This product changes the appearance of the surface it is being applied to.
  • SPM is a mat that works well on hazardous slippery floors. They are durable, long-lasting, yet light weight. The Grip Rock and Super G floor mats have handled many industrial spills and kitchen type chemicals.
Is there warranty on any of your products?
  • SPC, SPT, and SPM all have a 1yr replacement product warranty as long as proper maintenance of the application is followed.
  • SPS does not have a warranty due to the fact that the product life depends on climate, traffic and the environment. SPS has the potential, depending on these circumstance to last anywhere from 1-5yrs before a re-application is required.
Who are these products available to?
  • These products are available to anyone looking to solve a slippery when wet condition.
  • The SPC and SPT are available in convenient home or trial sizes for the homeowner who needs an application in their tub/shower or for the contractor who wants one for a demo.
Are MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) available?
  • Yes, just give us a call and we can get you what you need.
How are your products shipped and what's the cost?
  • We ship FedEx Ground
  • Cost of shipping depends on product, location, and quantity
